TENKARA

Tenkara is a traditional Japanese fishing method, distinct from Western fly fishing, built around a simple and direct approach. While it uses an artificial fly, tenkara did not originate as fly fishing and follows its own principles, focused on control, precision, and minimalism.

The equipment is reduced to the essentials: a telescopic rod without a reel, a light line, a leader, and a fly. This setup provides direct contact with the water and the fish, allowing precise control of drift and presentation, especially in small to medium-sized streams.

Tenkara philosophy emphasizes water reading, adaptation to current flow, and mindful movement rather than casting distance or complex gear. It is a method that highlights angler skill and awareness, fostering a deeper connection with the natural environment.

This category includes everything related to the tenkara system, from rods to lines and leaders, dedicated flies, and specific accessories, all selected to remain faithful to the original and functional nature of the technique.

The Tenkara category at Fly Shop La Vallata is curated for anglers seeking an authentic, thoughtful, and respectful fishing experience, grounded in simplicity and direct control, without confusion or overlap with traditional fly fishing.
